The 2025 State of Community Management Survey is now live and open for responses — and it’s a big one.

This year, we’re celebrating a major milestone: 10 years of the State of Community Management (SOCM) survey.

That’s a full decade of data, insight, and collective storytelling about how community management has evolved across Australia and New Zealand. From the rise of social media platforms to the dawn of AI, our field has transformed in ways few could have predicted — and your experiences have been at the heart of that story.

Now, we’re inviting you to help write the next chapter.

Why this year matters

The 2025 SOCM isn’t just another annual check-in — it’s a time capsule and a turning point. For 10 years, our research has tracked the growth of community management as a profession, measuring everything from budgets and salaries to wellbeing, influence, and impact.

This year, we’re going deeper than ever before. As well as a yearly snapshot, we’ll be comparing 10 years of change to map how community has shaped — and been shaped by — a decade of digital transformation, social upheaval, and innovation.

And because community is stronger together, we’re thrilled to be teaming up with our friends at The Community Collective to reach as many community builders as possible across Australia and New Zealand. Together, we’re bringing you the most comprehensive and collaborative SOCM yet.
